We have a new young horse rider at the farm: Michael McGrain, who is 30 years old and moved up here from Maryland – he came recommended by several friends; though he hasn’t had a lot of opportunities himself, he’s been given a lot of difficult horses to ride: young horses, problem horses, and he’s developed a reputation for being good with them. He’s there to really help us get all of our young horses going because we’re busting at the seams! Eventually we will have a couple of young horses for sale, but they’re not ready to be on the market yet. He’s riding everything from the two-year-olds that we need to get started up to the horses already under saddle. He’s also a carpenter and a big help around the farm.
Our head girl is Cassandra, who is older than the typical working student but has been through college and brings a great set of organizational skills to the barn. We also have two new working students: Chelsea Westra, whom Justin coached at the Region 8 Championships, and Kelley Gilbertson, from Maryland.
Michael [Barisone], Justin and Mary Haskins all have a lot of clients and horses to work with so having Michael McGrain, Chelsea and Kelley here along with Casssandra will be a huge help to everyone!
